||Boy Meets Girl | How They Met|| “I was on vacation in Aruba (living in Costa Rica at the time) and on my second day on the island I walked into his surf shop…Love at first sight! Kind of 🙂 We spent five days or so together and then I went back to Costa Rica. Two weeks later I still couldn’t get him off my mind, so I called and the very next day I bought a ticket to Aruba. We moved in together on the very first day and I never left!”
||The Moment She Realized It Was Love|| “Wow. The second I saw him I got so nervous I almost couldn’t talk. And I’m never nervous! So that was new. We had only known each other for a week, and when I left him to go back home I was going through a rough time. For the two weeks I was home, I thought of him every day and I remember a moment when I was feeling super sad and he popped into my head. I couldn’t help but smile! I knew then and there I had to go back and see him again.”
||The Proposal|| “We were in Hawaii for a yoga retreat and had a few days vacation the first days we got there. He brought me to the highest peak of Maui (Haleakala) and we leaned against a rock covered in blankets watching the sun set through the clouds 10,000 feet up. It was absolutely amazing, the most incredible sunset I’ve ever seen. We drank champagne and had a little picnic with us…it was the most romantic evening we’ve ever had, I think. And that’s before he proposed! Right as the sun was getting deep orange and pink, we stood on the end of a cliff, he went down on one knee. I cried.”
||Unique Elements of the Proposal|| “It was adventurous! Our relationship has always been adventurous and exciting, lots of traveling and unexpected moments. The proposal captured our relationship perfectly.”
||Advice to our Readers|| “Accept each other for who you are. Don’t try to change your partner. I truly believe that if it’s real love, you’ll learn to appreciate the differences you have as much as what you have in common. And don’t take anything you say seriously while hungry! (that goes for me, mostly) :)”
