Baby Goat Loves Yoga, Is Too Cute For Words
Social media star Rachel Brathen, also known as @Yoga_Girl on Instagram, features a special guest star in many of her beautiful photos: her pet goat, Penny Lane. Penny, who sports an adorable underbite, seems to love the practice just as much as her owner. Swedish-born Brathen and her husband live in Aruba, where they run an animal rescue called Sgt. Pepper’s Friends and own a greyhound named Ringo. When they added Penny to the family this past Christmas, Brathen gushed on Instagram that “all she wants to do is sit on our laps and watch TV and climb things (only one candle holder broken so far!) and chill on the couch looking cool with her underbite.”
As it would turn out, Penny took on another interest as well: Brathen’s yoga practice. Many of Brathen’s photos and videos now feature Penny balancing on her body or weaving between her feet as she moves through a sequence. Brathen has 1.8 million Instagram followers, but Penny has become a star in her own right, boasting over 63,000 followers on her very own Instagram account. When it comes to words, Penny likes to keep things short and sweet, sharing a simple “Baaaaaaaaa” in her profile’s bio.
Along with her work with animals, Brathen leads yoga retreats, teaches paddle board yoga, launched a virtual yoga studio, writes books, and uploads regular inspiration to her social media feeds (and somehow finds time to sleep and eat in between). If anything, Penny’s adorable interruptions of Brathen’s practice highlight what a skilled yogi she is. In many of her videos, manages to stay calm and focused, even as a tiny goat jumps on and off her back. If those interruptions create that much dedication, maybe goat yoga should be the next big thing in boutique fitness. I’d sure sign up! Below, check out a few highlights from Brathen and Penny’s shared practice.
