Island Yoga Retreat: May 25 – 30, 2017

Friends! We are so thrilled to share with you some very exciting news for 2017!

As many of you know, we opened our island home, Island Yoga, on January 1. The Island Yoga Retreats are going to be truly special here; held in our beautiful studio, a sacred community space we have been manifesting for several years, with lodging at the charming Costa Esmeralda just around the corner. Meals will be served in our wrap-around garden (we have an actual fireplace, fairy lights, and a tiki bar!) comprised of a healthy and delicious mix of island and modern cuisine, prepared by our in-house chef.

In addition to practicing yoga twice a day, we will offer SUP Yoga, a sunset sail, tons of beach time, a hike on the north shore and a visit to the natural pool.

This will be a heart-centered week, focusing on your innermost longings; a perfect place to deepen your practice and set your intentions for what’s ahead.

Deposit is $500. Email to sign up!

  • 5 nights at Costa Esmeralda
  • Yoga twice daily
  • Airport transfer

Hello! Is anything planned for the 25th? If I caught an early flight I could get there at 3:30 in the afternoon.

Is it best to arrive on the 24th?

  2. rachel says:

Hey! Yes, arrival is on the 25th! We begin in the evening with a welcome drink and dinner, first class is in the morning of the 26th. Looking forward to seeing you!

  3. Sarah says:

Looking at flights it’s much cheaper to arrive a day earlier and leave a day or two later. Is there an option to stay extra nights for the extra cost through the hotel? Would the airport transfer be available and included on those days still?

Also, do many people come by themselves or with friends? I’m thinking of coming alone so I wasn’t sure how the rooming worked if I opted for a double or quad.

    • rachel says:

Hi! Great questions. You can contact Costa Esmeralda directly to book your additional stay, and they can help you with airport transfer since we can only offer it on the retreat start and end dates. And yes, a lot of people come on these retreats solo before quickly becoming friends 🙂 You will share a room with other retreaters, but you can request a single bed and we will do our best to place you in one, as well as with other solo travellers. Feel free to send any other questions to Hope to see you in May!!

    Hi Rachel!

Super happy to be signing up for the retreat in May! Currently looking to book a single room, however a friend might be joining in which case we would like to share a double room. Will changes be possible in that case?

    So excited!!
    Faye xx

    • rachel says:

      Hi Faye,

yay, how fun!! Looking forward to seeing you! Yes, you can book a single room and if your friend wants to join we can move you to a double. Try to make a decision as soon as possible though as the lodging usually fills up fairly fast (we are many months away but the retreat is half full already!). Please email if you have any questions. See you in Aruba! x

  5. Christie says:

I don’t see a reply to Sarah’s question yet, but that is my question as well. I’m coming from Ohio and it would make more sense to fly in the day before. Who do we contact about reserving an extra night?

    • rachel says:

Hi! You can contact the hotel, Costa Esmeralda, to book your additional stay. They can also help you arrange your airport shuttle since we will be offering it only on the start and end dates of the retreat. I hope to see you in May!

  6. Ronda Gorby says:

Loved your book Yoga Girl & I hope to meet you May 25-30, 2017 for Aruba retreat. Send me more photos if possible so I can share with my husband💜💛 Love your vibe!

    • rachel says:

Thank you!! I would love to meet you here in Aruba, too! This retreat is almost full, so if you can join then I recommend securing your spot with your deposit ASAP 🙂

  7. Reesa says:

    Hi Rachel!

Im thinking of coming by myself. Would I be able to book one of the quad rooms and be placed with roommates or would I have to book a single?

I also noticed only two dinners are included, are there many grocery stores and restaurants near the retreat?

    • rachel says:

Hey! You can definitely book in a shared room – it’s actually all that we have left for this retreat! For the other dinners, we will have a list of restaurant suggestions that are all super close to Costa Esmeralda. Feel free to send any other questions that come up to Hope to see you in May! 🙂

  8. Gabriella says:

    Hi Rachel!
I’m trying to fly over from Toronto and it seems the only direct flights would be Saturdays which makes flying to Aruba significantly cheaper.
Is there an option to spend extra time at the hotel and pay the extra fees?
    Thanks in advance!!

    • rachel says:

Hey! Yes – more time to enjoy Aruba! 🙂 You can contact Costa Esmeralda directly to book your additional stay, and they can help you with your airport shuttle since we only offer it on the retreat start and end dates. Feel free to send any other questions directly to Hope to see you in May!

  9. Micaylaa says:

Hi Rachel!! I’m wanting to come to the retreat solo, but was hoping to get a room with any other people going solo too. Is that possible? Or should I just book the single occupancy room?

    • rachel says:

Hey! Yes, you can book the single occupancy room if you prefer to have a room all to yourself, or you can book in the other rooms and request to be placed with other solo travelers – as opposed to sharing with people that are traveling with friends. If you email, we will do our best to find a spot that feels good for you 🙂 There are only a few spots left, so email and reserve ASAP!

  10. Haley says:

I’m very interested in going! When do I have to make a decision by?

    • rachel says:

Yay! We hope you can join us! We are already nearly full for this retreat, so I recommend finalizing your decision and securing your spot with your deposit ASAP. Feel free to reach out to with any other retreat questions you may have 🙂

  11. Katy says:

    Hello Rachel,
I will love to join the retreat in May, but understand that there are no more single rooms available. Am I right?

  12. Lisa says:

I am new to yoga. Is the retreat good for beginners?

  13. Annalie says:

Hello there! So excited for this retreat! I was wondering what time dinner and drinks begins on the 25th? If I arrive at the airport by 3pm will that give me enough time to gett settled in before the festivities begin!?

    • rachel says:

      Hi Annalie!

We’re so excited to have you with us, as well! Yes, arriving by 3:00pm on the 25th will give you time to check in and change. You won’t have a ton of downtime before our welcome circle, but you’ll make it in time no problem 🙂 Please feel free to send any other retreat questions directly to for quick replies!

      Love, Team Brathen

  14. Megan says:

    Hi! 🙂
I would love to join this retreat! I’ve tried to reserve my spot on island yoga’s website several times, as it shows there is still room available in a casita room. However, nothing happens when I click on any of the “reserve my spot” buttons. So I came here and it says this retreat is booked :/ Just double checking on whether or not this retreat is fully booked? I would be coming alone and would love to room share with others who are also strangers and make friends 🙂
    Thank you,
    xoxo Megan

  15. Caroline says:

Do I have to sign up for classses before arrival or is the hole retreat set up with you?
I am coming solo al the way from Sweden and would love to join as much as possible.
Looking forward to my stay with you so much.

    • rachel says:

      Hi Caroline,

We are so happy to have you with us for this retreat! It will feature morning and evening yoga classes. If you would like to take additional yoga classes from Island Yoga’s regular schedule during your free time, go for it! You can sign up in person or a little before the retreat begins.

Please feel free to reach out directly to for quick replies to any further questions 🙂
